Now for the South Side of town, the Chicago White Sox. They are hoping to have a much, much, much better season than last year under new manager Will Venable. The White Sox will have a lot of competition for opening day spots between some of their top prospects and their non-roster invitees. As bad as the White Sox are, their farm system is looking much improved, especially after trading away Garrett Crochet. Some headlining prospects for the Sox this spring include:

  • LHP Noah Schultz
  • LHP Hagen Smith
  • C Edgar Quero
  • C Kyle Teel
  • INF Tim Elko
  • INF Chase Meidroth
  • INF Colson Montgomery
  • OF Braden Montgomery

Those names right there can create some excitement for Sox fans who are tired of the mid- however maybe only a few of them will break camp. Keep holding out hope Sox fans, there is no way this rebuild fails as bad as the last one. Well, there is a way, but we don’t have to think about it. Happy thoughts only.

These prospects should be able to contribute sooner than later. From the looks of it right now, the Sox will have good starting pitching and quality catchers. With Korey Lee already in the majors, Teel and Quero are knocking on the door and are both highly touted catching prospects. Hopefully throughout spring training and further down the line of 2025, the excitement for these prospects only grows. As they continue to develop with the hopes of contributing to the major league club and becoming the next core that can have prolonged success in the big leagues.

Some other White Sox notes:

  • Oscar Colas is rumored to be getting reps in at first base. Sox have put 1st baseman in right field the past few year, now they are switching it up
  • Bobby Dalbec, Omar Narváez, and Brandon Drury highlight some recent pickups that are non-roster invites to spring training
  • Pitching prospect Ky Bush is to undergo Tommy John this week
  • Former Sox Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada will be battling for spots with the Angels this spring
  • The Sox have signed ex- Washington outfielder Michael A. Taylor
  • Their first spring training game is February 22 at 2:05pm CST versus the Chicago Cubs at Sloan Park
